As many as 47 European nationals embraced Islam at a ceremony held at the office of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) inLondonSaturday evening.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Director of the MWL Office in London Dr. Ahmed Makhdoom said that the new converts included four men and the rest of them were women aged between 19 and 77. “Most of them are Britons in addition to some other European nationals. They have different educational levels and are employed in varied professions,” he said.
According to Makhdoum, last Saturday was a great occasion for the MWL office. “This was the largest number of people who embraced Islam in a single day since the opening of the office in 1982,”he said.
Makhdoum noted the office is exerting great efforts to spread the message of Islam through various means, including lectures, seminars, study classes, distribution of books, translations of the Holy Qur’an and CDs. On their part, the new converts expressed their delight in the blessing of God that enabled them to revert to the divine religion.
