In this ceremony where a group of servants of the Razavi holy shrine were present, the cover of the holy Zarih and the flag of the golden dome of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.) were replaced simultaneously.
At the beginning of the ceremony held in the Dar al-Ibadah portico, the special pilgrimage prayer of Imam Reza (A.S.) was recited at first and then the green flag of Astan Quds Razavi decorated with the word ‘la Ilaha illa-Allah' (there is no God but Allah) and the blessed verse of ‘Nasr u min-Allah wa Fathun Qarib' (Help is from God and victory is imminent) was transferred very magnificently by the servants beside the dome.
Noting that the cover of holy Zarih and the flag of the sacred dome of the Razavi holy shrine are replaced in the feasts and martyrdom anniversaries, the Assistant of Sacred Premises and Pilgrims' Affairs of Astan Quds Razavi reiterated, "At the martyrdom anniversary of the Infallible Imams (A.S.), the black flag and on the religious Eids and the birthday anniversaries of the Infallible Imams (A.S.), the green flag is hoisted."
Mahmud Mumtaz recounted the history of the flag replacement ceremony dating back to the Safavid period and added, "This ritual, however, has undergone many ups and downs over the history but the current style of the ritual has been practicing since the victory of the Islamic revolution.
