Is it true that the Sunni traditions which are in favor of Shia have been entered in their books by Shiites themselves?

Is it true that the Sunni traditions which are in favor of Shia have been entered in their books by Shiites themselves?

I heard some Wahhabis say that the Sunni traditions which are in favor of Shia have been entered in their books by Shiites themselves? If it is so, then all the references given from the Sunni books to confirm Shia's viewpoint become null and void. Please send me a detailed answer in this regard.
Concise answer

In order to get a clear answer to your question, you need to go through the following points:

Firstly, it is good that you ask the person, who has made this allegation about Shia, to provide you evidence from their sources. If he provides you with any concrete proofs, you should send it to us so that we can study it and give you a more precise answer thereafter. It is possible that some people may resort to such allegations in order to avoid confessing the truth or giving an answer. In this case, it is necessary to ask such individuals to provide evidence for their claims. That is because we do say in response to them that most of the virtues and traits of the Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.) have been mentioned in Sunnis' first hand sources but unfortunately some self-interested, hateful and malicious people have removed them in more recent versions of those books.

For further information in this regard, refer to index, "Distortions in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim" No.7107 (site: 7360) on our website.

Secondly, the best way to get an answer to such spurious arguments is to refer, if possible, to the said books' manuscripts (or hand-written versions) or to the older versions of these books which are less likely to have been tampered with or altered.

Thirdly, many of the hadiths (prophetic traditions) about Shia Imams' virtues and excellences do exist in first hand Sunni sources like Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The Sunni scholars or their traditionists generally do not have such a belief about those traditions.
