Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined the necessity for an immediate halt to the Saudi-led military strikes against Yemen and reinforcement of the political process in the impoverished Arab country.
"Dispatch of humanitarian aids, end of Saudi aggressions and strengthening of the political process and national talks are needed to speech up," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with State Secretary at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) Yves Rossier in Tehran on Saturday.
He also called for the settlement of the Syrian and Yemeni crises through internal talks, as well as start of necessary regional cooperation to responsibly fight against terrorism and extremism in Syria and Iraq.
"The pressures of certain countries to overthrow the legal government in Syria along with financial and arms back up for the terrorist groups is a dangerous move which will lead to the reinvigoration of the terrorist groups and has turned into a threat to the regional states and world community," Amir Abdollahian said.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 122 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.
Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
The Monarchy's attacks have so far claimed the lives of at least 5,302 civilians, mostly women and children.
