he German defense ministry says Daesh terrorists have launched a chemical attack on Kurdish forces fighting the militants in the northern parts of Iraq.
"There was a chemical weapons attack" southwest of Arbil, a ministry spokesman said adding that some Kurdish fighters suffered respiratory problems while German military trainers were unhurt.
"American and Iraqi specialists from Baghdad are on their way to find out what happened," added the spokesman.
This is not the first time that the Takfiri group resorts to using toxic chemical arms in Iraq.
Back in April, chemical material, including chlorine gas and ammonium nitrate, were found in the explosive devices planted by Daesh terrorists on roads and inside houses in Tikrit to be used against the Iraqi troops and volunteer forces battling to liberate the northern strategic city.
Also in January, the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) reported that the terrorist group had used chlorine gas in their explosive devices against the Peshmerga fighters in northern Iraq.
There have been similar reports about the use of chemical weapons by Daesh terrorists in Syria.
The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by violence ever since the Takfiri ISIL militants began their operations in the Iraqi territory in June 2014.
The notorious terror elements have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations, against all Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
