A prominent Nigerian cleric praised Iran for its supports for the oppressed people around the world, saying that the Islamic Republic is a role model for other nations in the fight against the global arrogance.
“Today, the Iranian people are the symbol of the fight against arrogance and oppression,” Ibrahim Zakzaky said in a speech, addressing a gathering of Islamic cultural activists in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast of Iran, on Wednesday.
“Iran’s people are role models not only for Shiite Muslims but for all of the world’s oppressed nations and governments and followers of other religions,” he stated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Zakzaky pointed to the plots hatched by the US and the Zionist regime of Israel, saying that all terrorist and Takfiri (extremist) groups, like the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), have emerged in Muslim countries with the support of the world arrogance.
ISIL is a Takfiri group believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.
The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.
