Ahlul Bayt News Agency - A conference was held in Tunisia earlier this week titled “Israeli Crimes in View of Arts and Culture”.

It was organized with the participation of a number of cultural and arts institutes and supported by the Iranian Cultural Center in the North African country.

The conference came on the anniversary of the 1985 Israeli attack on Hammam al-Shatt, near the Tunisian capital of Tunis, in which 68 Tunisian and Palestinians were martyred, Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (OIC) reported.

Addressing the event, Muhammad Samir Quba’a, a senior official with Tunisia’s foreign ministry, said the people and government of Tunisia will continue to stand by the Palestinian nation and resistance movement.

He underlined that the Zionist regime showed its true inhumane and unethical nature in the 1985 attack.

Quba’a also condemned the recent Zionist attacks on al-Aqsa Mosque in the holy city of Quds (Jerusalem) and called on international bodies, including the United Nations to take measures to stop the atrocious behavior of the Israeli government.

Mostafa Borujerdi, the Iranian ambassador to Tunisia, also addressed the conference, saying that the gathering aimed to reiterate support for the oppressed Palestinian nation.

He also stressed that the issue of Palestine should always be the Muslim world’s main issue.

The Zionist regime attacked the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) headquarters in Hammam al-Shatt on October 1, 1985.

The attack provoked a strong outcry worldwide. In the United Nations Security Council Resolution 573 (1985), the Security Council voted (with the United States abstaining) to condemn the Zionist attack on Tunisian territory as a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter.
