Lebanon’s security forces have apprehended a Lebanese man in connection with the recent twin bombings in the country’s capital Beirut.
According to Press TV, the suspect was placed under arrest on Wednesday, a week after ISIL Takfiri terrorists rocked the capital with two large explosions that ripped through a security post in Hussaineya Street in the crowded Borj al-Barajneh neighborhood in a southern suburb of Beirut. The blasts left 44 people dead and some 240 others wounded.
According to Lebanese officials, the terrorists initially planned to send five attackers to a hospital in the area. However, the plan was changed due to heavy security presence.
Lebanese Interior Minister Nuhad Mashnouq had earlier said that the entire “bombing network and its supporters were arrested in the 48 hours following the explosion.”
So far, about a dozen people have been detained in connection with the blasts, including seven Syrian nationals and two Lebanese.
