Nigerian people have staged protests in five different states to demand the release of the Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
According to Press TV, the protesters said Zakzaky and hundreds of his followers detained by the Nigerian army should be released immediately and without any pre-conditions.
They also condemned the army’s massacre of hundreds of Muslims during Zakzaky’s arrest.
Last month, the Nigerian army staged a bloody raid on a congregation hall and the home of Sheikh Zakzaky in the city of Zaria.
The cleric himself was injured in the attack. The Islamic Movement of Nigeria says over a dozen detainees are denied access to medical care despite being critically wounded.
At least one of the detainees has attained martyrdom of his wounds.
