Iran’s embassy in South Korea has held a ceremony to celebrate February 11, the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, also officially called Iran’s National Day.
Lotte Hotel in Seoul hosted a lavish feast organized by Iran’s ambassador to South Korea Mr. Hassan Taherian on Monday where about 400 people were invited to the ceremony which included foreign delegations and ambassadors to South Korea, tradesmen, heads of major industries, and some Korean ministers.
Chung Chin-youb, Korean Minister of Health and Welfare was the first speaker of the ceremony. Mr. Chung addressed the ceremony as special guest; “Iran and South Korea enjoy long and historic relations; the implementation of JCPOA and removal of sanctions on Iran’s economy provide great opportunity for Korean participation in Iran’s markets and lucrative oil and gas sector and trade and investment,” emphasized Korean minister. “We have in agenda building of hospitals and pharmaceutical centers among the host of other items for post-JCPOA Iran,” he added.
Hassan Taherian was the second speaker, who believed that Iran’s historic deal was a success in stopping Iranophobia project embarked on by some countries opposing the JCPOA; “the deal ruled out the tense security situation dominating the Middle East. It also made the region safer to live in; the deal was a timely response to artificially mounted nuclear crisis in the region,” he told the ceremony.
“Iran’s foreign policy centers on improved relations with neighbors and working to restore stability and peace for all countries in the region,” Mr. Taherian emphasized. “In times post-JCPOA, Iran will use its full potentials of capabilities in technology, a young and 80-million people labor force and a large consumer market, excellent access to regional markets, skilled university graduates, and ample natural sources of energy to attract foreign investments and indigenize foreign cutting-edge technology and to target global markets with its domestic productions,” he asserted.
“Korean companies are considered good partners for Iran with long record of working in Iranian markets; diplomatic exchanges in the upcoming months especially a visit by South Korean president to Tehran in spring will indicate a strong will in both sides to extend relations beyond the current level, and to build upon a firm base the future cooperation in different fields of interest,” concluded the ambassador.
