NIGERIA (AhlulBayt News Agency) - Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) advocacy group on Thursday insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari was “incompetent, clueless and directionless.”
She made the remark while noting that Buhari cannot be doing the same thing the previous administration did and not expect to be criticized.
In a tweet, the activist wrote:
“President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari cannot be doing the same thing himself, his party and citizens criticised last administration and not expect to be criticised.
“Himself and his party may be silent but we the citizens would criticise.
Some say the use of Aisha Yesufu’s language to the President is unbecoming but She asked rhetorically:
President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari ‘s incompetence, cluelessness, ineptitude, directionless leadership coldness & selfishness is not unbecoming?
“Get your priorities right! He would soon travel out, you nko?”
This is coming at a time when the Buhari administration has, beyond previous administration, consistently defied series of court orders as the country has yet again fallen into the hands of military dictatorship.
Insecurity under the Buhari administration has taken a different dimension. As the president is busy paying terrorists ransom and freeing others, kidnapping and terrorism by Boko Haram insurgents and Fulani Herdsmen has spread in scope and frequency.
The President claims ignorance of happenings in his government, and is very slow to act, if at all on matters that is of public significance.
Buhari has reneged on virtually all campaign promises he made while in the opposition – from public declaration of his assets, through the use of public hospitals rather than embarking on medical tourism. He spent more than a hundred days the last time he was out to attend to his health. In the meantime, the neglect of public hospitals is at an all time high, so much so that the first lady, Aisha Buhari had publicly criticised the State House clinic, when she said that there was no “common Panadol.” Again, when Buhari’s son was involved in an accident while engaged in leisure bike riding, he was flown abroad for medical treatment.
On the other hand, high profile detainees such as the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenatu, that a competent court declared their detention unconstitutional and illegal continue to languish in detention in spite of their deteriorating health situation.
Rather than become the reformed democrat he promised, he became a hardened autocrat. Buhari’s administration has actively promoted flagrant abuses of human rights and in fact crimes against humanity such as the Zaria massacre of December 2015, in which over a thousand citizens were extra judicially killed in one weekend and secretly buried in mass graves.
