Statement of Ayatollah Dr. Mahdi Hadavi Tehrani, Member of the Ahlulbayt World Assembly's Supreme Council, on the Hunger Strike of Pakistani Shiite Leaders in Protest at Oppressions and Discriminations against the Followers of Ahlulbayt (A.S.)

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

And those who have wronged shall (soon) know to what [kind of] place they will be sent. (The Holy Quran: Surah al-Shuara: Verse 227)

On the threshold of the demise anniversary of our wise and pious Leader, Imam Khomeini (may Allah bless his soul); and15 Khordad (June 4th), which marks the mass killing of revolutionary people in Tehran by Shah in 1963; when millions of enthusiasts from around the world come to visit the Shrine of our dear Imam Khomeini, we are witnessing a truthful cry by the oppressed followers of the Ahlulbayt (a.s.) in Pakistan who - tired of continuous oppressions and violence in their country -have triggered a new struggle in form of a hunger strike headed by a number of Mujahid Islamic scholars.

Undoubtedly, the Pakistani authorities must take into consideration this cry for Islamic justice with tact and tolerance; and save the oppressed Shiites of Pakistan from the ongoing unjust conditions in their country which is full of love for the infallible Household of the Prophet of Islam (s.a.).

Lack of attention to this important case may cause harmful effects in the domestic power structure and national solidarity in Pakistan whose responsibility is to be directly taken by the Pakistan's government.

A rational approach towards this issue, which is actually a non-violent struggle by Shiites, and fair consideration to their demands and expectations, is not only a religious duty but also a factor for the consolidation of national strength and unity of the people of this country.

We support the rightful hunger strike of Shiite scholars for the sake of removing oppression and violence against Shiites in Pakistan, and pray to Almighty Allah to bestow good health and victory upon them.

We hope that prayers of our Imam of the Age (may Allah hasten his reappearance) assists their sincere steps in this way so that the truth will prevail again in near future, God Willing!

Wassalaamualaikum
Mahdi Hadavi Tehrani
