The Grand Ayatollah Sistani expressed his views regarding the new style eulogies.
Question: What is the ruling about the music in any style or various sounds including songs without music or new style eulogies?
The Grand Ayatollah Sistani: There is no problem with songs which are not for enjoyment (playful), but the inappropriate (playful) tunes which are accompanied with unsuitable words are Haram, and if it is accompanied with eulogy and the likes of it, according to Wajib precaution is not allowed, and if the music is suitable for enjoyment (playful) gatherings is Haram, otherwise it is not Haram.
