The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi Zanjani answered a question about selecting endowment trustees (custodian).
Question: Who is responsible to select endowment trustees? Is it the case for those who run the Islamic country or purely a personal issue?
The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi: The trusteeship and the supervision of the endowment is the responsibility of those who have been appointed by the one who endows, and must not be acted against that. Yes, when the trustees do not act according to deed of endowment, the religious authority selects a supervisor to obligate them to act according to deed of endowment, and if this is also not effective to prevent breach of trust, another person will be appointed instead.
