A crowd of Palestinians and Ukrainian demonstrators held Palestinian flags, signs, and pictures of prisoners, and distributed fliers in Kiev detailing the situation of Palestinians since 1948.
The protesters addressed a message to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, calling him to urgently intervene and provide protection for Palestinian prisoners, pressure Israel to commit to international laws regulating the treatment of prisoners.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, a group of activists installed tents in the French city of Nantes and declared a one-day hunger strike in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners.
Palestinian prisoner solidarity network Samidoun also reported that similar one-day hunger strikes were carried out in the United States and Ireland on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners entered their 38th day without food on Wednesday, in an effort to obtain an end to the denial of family visits, the right to pursue higher education, appropriate medical care and treatment, and an end to solitary confinement and administrative detention -- imprisonment without charge or trial -- among other demands for basic rights.
Solidarity events have been held across the occupied Palestinian territory and abroad every day since the beginning of the hunger strike on April 17 to show support for the prisoners.
