4. Mālik ibn Anas thus narrates on the authority of Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal:
– وسلّم [وآله] عليه الله صلى – الله رسول فكان
. العِشاء و المغرب و العصر و الظّهر بين يجمع
“The Messenger of Allah (ṣ) (on the Tabuk expedition) performed afternoon prayer immediately after noon prayer and ‘ishā’ prayer immediately after maghrib prayer.”[1]
5. Mālik ibn Anas thus narrates on the authority of Nafi‘, from ‘Abd Allāh ibn ‘Umar:
– وسلّم [وآله] عليه الله صلى – الله رسول كان
. العشاء و المغرب بين يجمع السّير به عجلّ إذا
“Whenever the Messenger of Allah (ṣ) was in a hurry, he would perform ‘ishā’ prayer immediately after maghrib prayer.”[2]
6. Mālik ibn Anas thus narrates on the authority of Abū Hurayrah:
– وسلّم [وآله] عليه الله صلى – الله رسول إن
.تبوك إلى سفره فى العصر و الظّهر بين يجمع كان
“Verily, the Messenger of Allah (ṣ) combined maghrib and ‘ishā’ prayers together when he travelled to Tabūk.”[3]
7. Mālik ibn Anas thus narrates on the authority of Nafi‘:
الأُمراء جمع إذا كان عمر بن الله عبد إنّ
.معهم جمع المطر في العِشاء و المغرب بين
“Verily, whenever the emirs combined maghrib and ‘ishā’ prayers while raining, ‘Abd Allāh ibn ‘Umar would also combine the two prayers.”[4]
8. Mālik ibn Anas thus narrates on the authority of ‘Alī ibn al-Ḥusayn:
أن أراد إذا – وسلّم [وآله] عليه الله صلى – الله رسول كان
ليله يسير أن أراد إذا و العصر، و الظّهر بين جمع يومه يسير
. العِشاء و المغرب بين جمع
Whenever the Messenger of Allah (ṣ) wanted to travel during the day, he would combine ẓuhr and ‘aṣr prayers, and whenever he wanted to travel during the night, he would combine maghrib and ‘ishā’ prayers.[5]
