Bahrain’s religious scholars or the Ulama called for those behind last year’s bloody raid on Diraz to be punished.
(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Bahrain’s religious scholars or the Ulama called for those behind last year’s bloody raid on Diraz to be punished.
In a statement released on the one-year anniversary of the deadly incident, the Ulama added that the “crimes committed by the corrupt [Manama] regime will never be forgotten.”
The raid, which unfolded on May 23, 2017, saw Manama’s security forces attack a peaceful sit-in outside the home of Bahrain’s highest religious authority Sheikh Isa Qassim.
Five people were killed and hundreds of others wounded while Sheikh Qassim was placed under house arrest.
According to the Ulama,“the continuing siege of the home of His Eminence Sheikh Qassim by the regime and his continued targeting mean that the danger is still impinged on religion and the homeland.”
