-- During a meeting with president of Al-Azhar University of Egypt, representatives of Islamic universities of Indonesia discussed ways for developing joint cooperation between universities of the two countries.
According to Al-Yawm Al-Sabi', Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, president of Al-Azhar University, said that the meeting aimed to enhance cooperation with Islamic universities of Indonesia in present and future.
"Conducting joint research studies in various scientific fields and exchanging students and teachers of universities of the two countries were discussed at the meeting," he said.
Stressing that Al-Azhar University is ready to cooperate with universities of the world, particularly Islamic educational centers, education deputy of the university referred to the establishment of new departments, such as a department for studies of Shari'ah (Islamic law) as some of the measures taken by Al-Azhar in line with realization of objectives of the scientific center.
Abdullah Al-Husseini added, "The university is also setting up a Faculty of Islamic Sciences for non-Arab students studying in Egypt."
All branches of Al-Azhar University and its affiliate faculties have been opened outside Egypt following requests by Muslim minorities from all over the world.
