Violence involving Yemeni regime forces and protesters has killed 18 people across the country amid the public determination to oust the US-backed regime of Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Clashes between government troops and opposition fighters killed 18 people on Monday, including three civilians that were caught in the fire exchange north of the capital Sana'a, the Associated Press reported.
Pro-Saleh armed men also killed a protester in the southwestern city of Taizz. A total of 30 people were injured in tensions gripping the two cities.
Thousands of people have turned out for regular demonstrations in Yemen's major cities since January, calling for an end to corruption and unemployment, the removal of the regime, and Saleh's prosecution for ordering the killing of demonstrators.
Hundreds of people have so far been killed as a result of the regime's crackdown on protesters.
