--The exhibition of Quranic calligraphy has started under the cultural wing of City District Government Karachi (CDGK) here on Monday night at Markaz-e-Ilm o Saqafat, Federal B Area, Karachi. The exhibition was inaugurated by the chief guest City Naib Nazim, Nasreen Jalil. Talking to journalists, she said that Quranic calligraphy was the part of our cultural heritage and its promotion was our joint responsibility. Jalil also urged upon the provincial and federal governments to patronize such projects in order to promote the art of Quranic calligraphers, since the city government could not support such projects alone. She said that the media should also play its role in order to highlight the work of Quranic calligraphers. It may be noted this is the first-ever exhibition in the art gallery of the Markaz Ilm-o-Saqafat where the work of prominent calligraphers including Ustad Majeed Dehlvi, Ustad Abdur Rahuf, Salim Bhopali, Habib Bhopali, Ishrat Hussain, Ali Shah and others was displayed. The exhibition will be opened for the public from 11am to 6pm and continue even after Eid. |
