Iranian Echo of Quran Reverberates through Shia Mosque in Medina
Quran recitations performed by Iranian Quran reciters echoed in the Shias' mosque in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia. Iran's Quran delegation to the Major Hajj performed in Medina's Imam Hassan (AS) which was received well by Saudi Shias. Held after night prayers, the ceremony commenced with a Quranic recitation by top Iranian Quran reciter Hamid-Reza Naddaf and then was followed by some religious songs done by Falaq Tawashih (religious song) Group on the virtues of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in both Arabic and Farsi. After that Iranian Quran memorizer Mohammad-Sadeq Nasrollahi, who knows the whole Quran by heart, went on the stage to be challenged by the enthusiastic audience who cheered him several times for his mastery over the Holy Book. Saudi Arabia is home to 2 million Shias who make up 10 per cent of its 20 million population. Every year a group of top Quran reciters and memorizers are sent to Saudi Arabia in the Hajj season as part of Quranic activities among Iranian and foreign Hajj pilgrims.
