Haidar Nouri Jilukhan said the TV channel was launched in March 2016 to serve the Holy Book.
He said Al Quran TV’s activities are focused on promoting the Quranic discourse and its programs are based on the needs of today’s society.
Quran recitations by different Qaris constitute a large part of the TV’s programs, he said, adding that in the near future, recitation programs will be broadcast 12 hours a day and various Quranic programs will be aired during the other 12 hours.
Currently, the TV channel is recording recitations by several prominent Iraqi Qaris such as Sheikh Maitham al-Tammar, Hajj Osama al-Karbalayi, Mustafa al-Qalibi, and Rafi al-Amiri, Jilukhan noted.
He said there has also been an agreement with Iran’s Quran TV recently to share its archive of recitations by Iranian Qaris.
According to Jilukhan, Al Quran TV also has interaction with a number of satellite TV channels, including al-Manar, al-Sirat and al-Iman.
He went on to say that the Quranic programs of the TV channel include those on the life and achievements of Quran activists.
