In a meeting with Iranian Police Commander Gen. Ashtari in Qom on Sunday, senior Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi highlighted the issue of security in all aspects of life and referred to recent Las Vegas shooting in the United States saying, "A man caused Irreparable damage at a party single-handedly in the US, the issue of security is one of great importance and we must be thankful to live in such a safe country as Iran."
Pointing out the Iraqi Kurdistan referendum for secession which took place a while ago, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi added, "the main purpose of Iraqi Kurdistan secession is to create a base for the arrogant powers in the region, but the joint efforts of the neighboring countries including Iran, Iraq and Turkey will neutralize this plot; the security and stability of the region will not be tarnished."
"Among the enemies' major goals in seceding Iraqi Kurdistan is to destroy that region as they did so in Northern Iraq; although the neighboring countries are vigilant to neutralize this plot." the senior cleric concluded.
