A national Quran memorization competition is to be held in Alexandria, Egypt for selecting the country’s representatives in Mecca International Quran Contest.
Organized by Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the contest will be held next week with the participation of 47 memorizers from different regions of Egypt.
The participants will compete in the four categories of memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 21 Juzes (sections) of Quran, memorization of 15 Juzes, and memorization of 7 Juzes of the holy Quran. All the participants should also observe the rules of recitation and Tajweed.
Mohammad Vahdaan, an official in Egypt’s Awqaf office said those qualifying for this contest are the winners of the preliminary stage held in different regions of the country.
“From about 5000 participants in the preliminary stage, 47 could make it to the final stage,” he added.
