Muslims have held street rallies in the Italian cities of Rome and Milan in condemnation of the recent terrorist attacks in France and Lebanon.
According to Press TV, the demonstrations on Saturday, under the theme of “Not in my name” began with a minute of silence to pay respect to the victims of the attacks.
On November 13, shooting attacks and bombings in the French capital, Paris, claimed the lives of more than 130 people.
A day earlier, over 40 people were killed and some 240 others injured in twin blasts in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The Takfiri ISIL terrorist group claimed responsibility the terrorist attacks in the two cities.
The demonstrators expressed solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attacks, rejecting violent acts in the name of religion.
Banners held up by demonstrators who gathered in a square in central Rome under heavy police surveillance read “The Holy Qur’an is against violence,” “Islam is peace.”
Abdellah Redouane, head of the Islamic Cultural Center in Rome, who was attending the demonstration said “The message is clear, terrorism cannot continue to attack everywhere in the name of Muslims.”
In Milan, where security has been tight in the past few days over fears of terrorist attacks, demonstrators chanted “No to ISIL.”
