- On Tuesday December 27, 2016—at the beginning of his Dars-e Kharej lecture, and ahead of of the December 29, 2009 epic anniversary event, Ayatollah Khamenei mentioned a narration by the Holy Prophet (saw); wherein, he states that goodness and prosperity can be achieved in human societies by possessing power. Ayatollah Khamenei stated: "Arrogant powers, like the United States, pursue social prosperity and what they call 'American values' by accumulating wealth and dominating the world. Islam, however, considers the prosperity of mankind as an achievement of human virtues, and the application of Quranic thought and deeds in all parts of society."
The Leader of the Revolution described the Iranian government, which is founded on Islam, and benefits from the strength and influence of various issues in the region, as what provokes the animosity and grudges held by global powers. He added, "The domineering system opposes any ideology or movement, in the world, which is anti-oppression or anti-discrimination; but it rises with all its powers against a movement which has managed to move a nation."
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed on the necessity of equipping one’s nation with a variety of power, including economic, intellectual, social and public power, stating, "The fact that millions of people take to the streets on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution--after some 40 years since its victory--is indicative of the Islamic Republic’s power in mobilizing the people; this is a unique quality in the world."
Ayatollah Khamenei further held that bliss and misery depend on how power is used; referring to the power that emerges from relying on nuclear weapons. His Eminence said, "The prohibition of nuclear weapons is built upon very important jurisprudential and logical foundations, but the opportunity to achieve other types of power are available to the nation and the state."
