Military trial of Bahraini civilians violates international, domestic laws: Al-wefaq
Bahrain’s Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society demanded that Manama halt an ongoing military trial against a group of Bahraini civilians, describing the court proceedings as a violation of both domestic and international laws.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The military court is expected to deliver its verdict on Monday.

The case, which involves 18 civilians, is the first of its kind since Manama amended the kingdom’s constitution in April – permitting military courts to try civilians.

During Bahrain’s 2011 uprising, the monarchy experimented with putting civilians on military trails after it declared a state of emergency.

In a statement released on Saturday, Al-Wefaq stressed that returning to the practices of emergency rule only highlights the “unprecedented” crisis in Bahrain.

The opposition party added that the trial is plagued by violations including the use of torture and incommunicado detention.

The group also called on the international community to take action against the relentless abuses.
