Encyclopedia of Egyptian Quran Reciters Published

The first volume contains articles on the life and styles of recitation of renowned reciter Shahat Muhammad Anwar.

Mahmud Jabbir head of An-Nur Quranic Research Center said that compilation and publication of the encyclopedia requires more cooperation and help from the devotees of the Quran.

He said that a delegation from the research center would travel to Tehran in the near future to discuss an agreement with the Iranian Quran News Agency on further cooperation in publishing the great Quranic work. “In line with the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who has stressed the need for more efforts regarding the Quran and Quran reciters, the center has requested Quran News Agency for assistance in publishing the encyclopedia.”

He said that the Association of Quran Reciters in Egypt and its secretary general Mater Abolainain Shoaisha have also welcomed the compilation of the encyclopedia.

According to Mr. Jabbir, the first volume of the Encyclopedia of Egyptian Quran Reciters has been published with the title of “Al-Sheikh Shahat Muhammad Anwar: Fragrant Seerah and Fruitful Life”.

It includes articles on “Quranic life of Shahat Muhammad Anwar”, “Quranic status of Shahat Muhammad Anwar and his awards”, “his character and what distinguishes him from other reciters”, “styles of recitation”, “Quranic trips”, “his trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran and his love for the holy Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS)”, “views of Egyptian and Iranian scholars about Shahat Muhammad Anwar”, and “his family and children”.

A scientific committee has been set up by An-Nur Quranic Research Center to collect information on the life and recitation styles of great Egyptian reciters, either through books, articles, journals and archives or through interviews with their family members, students and friends.
